Research Interpretation

This study investigated black sesame oil’s effect on hair growth using a C57BL/6 mouse alopecia model. Mice received daily topical applications of black sesame oil, 3% minoxidil, or saline for three weeks. Both black sesame oil and minoxidil accelerated hair regrowth, enhanced hair follicle elongation, increased serum and skin ALP and γ-GT activities, and upregulated IGF-1 expression. Immunohistochemistry showed strong SCF staining in hair follicles. These results suggest black sesame oil effectively stimulates hair growth through multiple mechanisms and may be a practical natural therapy for hair loss.
